New Malware Targets Messenger Apps On Android

Researchers from Cisco Talos Intelligence are worried about WolfRAT, a new malware targeting messenger apps on Android. Among the targeted apps are Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Line.

WolfRAT reaches the target device through various malicious and fake updates to otherwise legit apps like Google Service. It then seeks explicit permissions to run on the device. The malware starts taking screenshots of chats whenever such apps are open.
